Justification
This is a range-restricted species, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 391 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 32 km². It is known from three sites but it flowers at an unusual time of year so more subpopulations are likely to exist. Its habitat is not threatened. It is therefore listed under the IUCN 3.1. criteria as Least Concerned but is nationally recognised as Rare.

It is a local endemic restricted to middle and upper elevations of the Kamiesberg in Northern Cape, South Africa.

Description
It occurs in renosterveld scrub with the corms deeply wedged in fissures in granite outcrops.
Threats
It is not threatened as it grows in rocky inaccessible places (P. Goldblatt (pers. comm.)).
