Justification
This species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 113 935 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 388 km². It is known from more than 20 subpopulations and is not in danger of extinction, and is therefore listed as Least Concern.

Range
This species is restricted to northern South Africa, from Heidelberg in Gauteng north to Soutpansberg in Limpopo and west to Zeerust in Northwest, and as far east as Waterval Boven in Mpumalanga. It is possibly also found in Botswana.

Description
It occurs in rocky grassland and savanna, often in quartzite, with the corms wedged in rock crevices.
Threats
This species has no known threats and is not in danger of extinction.
Population

It is known from more than twenty subpopulations and has had 162 observations posted by citizen scientists on the iNaturalist platform between 2012 and 2023 from across its known range. From these observations we infer that the population is locally common, stable and not declining.
