This species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 2429 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 24 km². It is known from five subpopulations, but the population has a stable trend, and is not in danger of extinction. It is therefore listed as Least Concern.

Range
This species is endemic to the Little Karoo between Ladismith in Western Cape and the Long Kloof from Uniondale to Joubertina in Eastern Cape, South Africa.

Description
It occurs on stony clay or loamy flats and banks in renosterveld and karroid shrubland, also crevices in sandstone cliffs.
