Justification
This species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 497 089 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 780 km². It is widespread across Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal, and is also found in Western Cape, Free State, Eswatini and in Lesotho. It is not in danger of extinction, and is therefore listed as Least Concern.

Range
It extends through south-eastern and eastern South Africa from Humansdorp in Eastern Cape through KwaZulu-Natal, eastern Free State and Lesotho to Wakkerstroom in Mpumalanga. It is also found the Western Cape.

Description
It occurs in stony grassland, from near sea level to the high Drakensberg, typically on dolerite or sandstone soils.
Threats
This species has lost 34% of its habitat (calculated using landcover data in GIS) across its wide range to agriculture, infrastructure development, competition from alien invasive species, harvesting, too frequent fires, and mining.
Population

The population trend of this species is unknown, however, it is widespread and is not in danger of extinction. It is known from more than 50 subpopulations.
