This species is endemic to the Northern Cape province, South Africa, where it occurs mainly north of Eksteenfontein in the Richtersveld with an outlying subpopulation on the Abbasasberg in northern Bushmanland.

Description
Plants grow on rocky slopes and outcrops with the corms often wedges in cracks and fissures.
Threats
This species occurs on lower slopes and flats, where degradation due to severe overstocking of communally owned rangelands is ongoing.
