Distribution |
Endemism | South African endemic |
Provincial distribution | Eastern Cape, Free State, Gauteng |
Range | This species is scattered through the eastern Great and Upper Karoo, South Africa, from Willowmore in Eastern Cape and De Aar in Western Cape through the central parts of Eastern Cape and the central Free State to Heidelberg in Gauteng. |

Threats |
A small proportion (20%) of this species' habitat has been irreversibly modified, predominantly due to loss from crop cultivation and urban development. There is no significant ongoing habitat loss, but several subpopulations in Gauteng and the Eastern Cape, as well as in the vicinity of Makanda and Ficksburg are threatened by habitat loss due mostly to urban development and to a lesser degree crop development. Some subpopulations are subjected to habitat degradation as a result of alien invasive plants. |
Population |
The population is likely declining due to habitat loss in several areas, mostly as a result of urban development and related activities. Despite this the species remains common and widely spread.
