This widespread species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 133 072 km². Although some subpopulations are threatened by agricultural practices and human settlements, it does not qualify for a threat category and is therefore considered Least Concern.

Range
This species is widely distributed through the eastern half of the Upper Karoo from Prieska, Carnarvon, Victoria West and Colesberg in Northern Cape to Grahamstown in Eastern Cape.

Description
It can be found in washes or seasonal drainage lines on clay flats in karroid scrub and open grassland.
Threats
Some subpopulations of this species are threatened by agriculture (crops and livestock) and to a lesser degree by human settlements. No threats are known in most subpopulations.
