This species occurs in Hantamsberg at Calvinia southwards across the Roggeveld Escarpment to Hex River Mountains.

Description
Plants grow in well-drained clay flats and shale bands.
Threats
A small proportion of this species' distribution range has been cultivated, but there is no significant, ongoing expansion of crop cultivation. Renosterveld on the Roggeveld Escarpment is also degraded due to overgrazing in places, but this does not appear to have affected this species.
Population

This species is known from many subpopulations and is locally common in suitable habitat.
