Threats |
More than 60% of this species' habitat has been lost to crop cultivation, and only isolated fragments remain. Plants on these remaining fragments continue to be threatened by overgrazing, competition from unmanaged alien invasive plants, and inappropriate fire management. Use of pesticides and fertilizer in surrounding crop fields is causing a decline in pollinators and nutrient enrichment of habitat patches, which particularly encourages the spread of alien invasive grasses. |
Population |
This species is known from recent records from seven small, isolated remnants, where all subpopulations are small. Intact habitat remains at two other locations known from historical records, but the species has not been seen in these well-surveyed sites since the 1980s, and is possibly already locally extinct.
