Justification | Ixia sobolifera subsp. sobolifera is a rare, range-restricted taxon, but also possibly overlooked as it occurs in a botanically relatively poorly explored area. It has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 2594 km². It is not threatened, and is therefore listed as Least Concern. |

Population |
Ixia sobolifera subsp. sobolifera has been rarely collected in the past, and field surveys in 2006, a year of exceptionally good rainfall, yielded only five small subpopulations (Goldblatt and Manning 2008). It could possibly still be found elsewhere on the Roggeveld Escarpment and Koedoes Mountains.
