Justification | Ixia ramulosa is a range-restricted species with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 7954 km². It is still fairly common, occurring at around 20 locations, and is threatened in parts of its range by habitat loss to crop cultivation and overgrazing. It is listed as Near Threatened. |

Threats |
On the plains west of Kamieskroon, large sections of this species' habitat have been ploughed in the past. Most of this area is now incorporated within the Namaqua National Park, and the threat of habitat loss has ceased. Many recent records from this area indicate that the subpopulation has survived the disturbance. A small proportion (c. 10%) of this species' habitat has also been ploughed in the Kamiesberg, but this is unlikely to be a severe threat to the subpopulation in this area. This area is however impacted by heavy overgrazing, particularly in communal areas around Leliefontein, where large herds of feral donkeys are causing ongoing destruction to the natural vegetation. On the Bokkeveld Plateau around Nieuwoudtville, cultivation of rooibos tea is expanding rapidly, however, no records of this species are in areas immediately impacted by tea cultivation, and the species is also protected within the Oorlogskloof Nature Reserve. |
Population |
Ixia ramulosa is a range-restricted, but fairly common species, particularly within the Namaqua National Park.
