A highly localized species, currently known from a single location, but possibly more widespread as it occurs in an area that is botanically still poorly explored. It is however not suspected to be threatened or declining.

Ixia linearifolia is a rare and highly localized species (Goldblatt and Manning 2011). It is currently known from a single subpopulation, but was only recently discovered, and it is possible that other still undiscovered subpopulations may exist.
