Description
Loamy clay in transitional renosterveld vegetation on lower, moist, south-facing slopes.
Threats
Some subpopulations occur in areas of extensive timber plantations, and this species is likely to have lost habitat to plantations in the past, but as plantations are no longer expanding, this threat has ceased. Natural vegetation surrounding plantation areas are however densely infested by unmanaged alien invasive plants, which may be causing localized population decline in some areas. Subpopulations in the Overberg are fragmented due to habitat loss to crop cultivation, and those on the coast are threatened by competition from alien invasive plants and coastal development.
