Description
Lower sandstone slopes.
Threats
On the sandy coastal plain between Kleinmond and Hermanus, this species is declining due to ongoing habitat loss to coastal development. On the lower slopes of the Palmiet-Highlands mountains between Bot River and Kleinmond, this species has lost habitat to timber plantations in the past, and is currently threatened by habitat loss to expanding orchards (predominantly cultivation of proteas for the cut flower industry), as well as competition from unmanaged alien invasive plants. East of Stanford, subpopulations known from historical records are now likely to be locally extinct due to habitat loss to crop cultivation. On the lower coastal mountains as well as the Caledon Swartberg, it is threatened by competition from dense, unmanaged infestations of alien invasive plants.
Population

This species flowers abundantly in the first two seasons after fires, but is otherwise very rare.
