Threats |
| This species' habitat has been fragmented by crop cultivation, and subpopulations on small fragments continue to decline due to ongoing habitat degradation as a result of overgrazing, alien invasive plants and inappropriate fire management. In the Houw Hoek area and Groenland Mountains it has lost habitat to timber plantations in the past, and continues to be threatened by competition from unmanaged alien invasive plants. This threat is also causing population declines on the lower coastal mountains around Hermanus, Bredasdorp and on the Caledon Swartberg. |
Population |
This species is rarely collected, but it flowers late in the season and may be overlooked (Goldblatt and Manning 2012). Most localities are old records with imprecise descriptions, and it is difficult to estimate the number of remaining subpopulations.
