Justification
A rare, and highly restricted species (EOO 2 km²), known from two to three locations and declining due to ongoing habitat loss to crop cultivation.

Description
Heavy clay soils on valley floors.
Threats
Since 1996, there has been extensive expansion of crop fields within the very limited range of this species, and loss is continuing.
Population

This species is rare, and to date has only been found on two farms (Goldblatt and Manning 2011).

Plants from further north towards Calvinia previously included in this species have now been identified as a separate species, Ixia alata.
