Justification | This taxon has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 10 775 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 248 km². It is known from between 16 and 20 locations. It has lost 64% of its habitat due to agriculture and alien plant invasion, and loss is ongoing. It is therefore listed as Near Threatened, almost meeting Criterion B to be listed as Vulnerable. |

Threats |
This taxon has lost 64% of its habitat (calculated using landcover data in GIS) to agriculture in the past. Much of the past range has been transformed to wheat plantations. There is also an ongoing threat from alien plants especially on the Caledon Swartberg. |
Population |
It has a decreasing population trend, and is in danger of extinction. It has a population size of at least 10 000 individuals, and is known from 15 subpopulations.
