Justification
This is a widespread and common taxon. In spite of some localized population decline, it is not yet in danger of extinction. It has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 8973 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 196 km². It is known from between 26 and 30 subpopulations, and is therefore listed as Least Concern (LC).

Range
This taxon is endemic to the Western Cape province of South Africa, where it occurs from the Cape Flats and Betty's Bay along the coast to Elim, and extends inland to the base of the Riviersonderend Mountains.

Description
It occurs on sandy coastal flats and lower slopes in fynbos.
Threats
This taxon has lost 19% of its habitat (calculated using landcover data in GIS) to coastal development. It is also threatened by competition from dense infestations of unmanaged alien invasive plants.
Population

It is very common, and most prominent in recently burnt fynbos. It is known from between 26 and 30 subpopulations, with a stable population trend. It is therefore not in danger of extinction.
