This subspecies has lost 35% of its habitat (calculated using landcover data in GIS). It is potentially threatened by competition from dense infestations of alien invasive plants. Ongoing clearing efforts are required to keep its habitat free from alien plants. |

The population has at least 1000 individuals, and exhibits a stable trend. It is known from four subpopulations.
