Justification
Bobartia filiformis has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 20 004 km², and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 276 km². It is known from at least 30 subpopulations, and is believed to have a stable population trend. While it has lost some suitable habitat, it does not yet qualify for a threat status under the IUCN criteria and is therefore listed as Least Concern.

Range
This species is endemic to South Africa, and is restricted to the mountains in the southwestern parts of the Western Cape province, from Michell's Pass near Ceres to the Cape Peninsula, and the Hottentots Holland mountains to Bredasdorp.

Description
It occurs mainly on south-facing sandstone slopes or moist flats where it flowers best after fire.
Threats
This species has lost some habitat due to agriculture and competition from alien invasive species, as well as habitat degradation due to agriculture (wood plantations and livestock) and too frequent fires.
