Justification
Lapeirousia montana is a range-restricted endemic to the Roggeveld Escarpment and Tanqua Karoo, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 6292 km². It is locally common and not in danger of extinction, and is therefore listed as Least Concern.

Range
This species is endemic to South Africa, and is widespread across the Roggeveld Escarpment, extending to the Klein Roggeveld and Tanqua Karoo. It possibly also occurs as far north as the Hantam Region between Nieuwoudtville and Calvinia.

Description
It grows in seasonally wet clay and sandy soils in valley bottoms, around seasonal pools and in shallow soils over rocky pavements.
Threats
There are no severe threats to this species. Parts of its habitat is degraded due to overgrazing, but it does not appear to have significantly impacted the population. A very small proportion (<5%) is cultivated.
Population

Many recent field observations indicate that Lapeirousia montana is still common, in spite of some habitat loss and degradation.
