This species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 10 435 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 100 km². It is known from 21 subpopulations and has no known threats. It is therefore listed as Least Concern.

Description
Plants grow in rocky places, typically on quartzite shale but seldomly on dolomite or any other type of limestone. It is restricted to the most arid parts of the southern African winter rainfall zone.
Threats
This species has no known threats.
Population

No quantitative population data are available for this species, but it is known to exist in about 21 subpopulations. There are 16 herbaria collections of this taxon with the date range from 1925-2001, along with 16 recent observation records on iNaturalist. With no known threats, the population trend is inferred to be stable.
