Justification
Thorncroftia media is a very poorly known species, last collected in 1976. It has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of less than 100 km², and is not suspected to be in danger of extinction as it occurs in a remote and inaccessible area where there are no severe threats.

Threats
Thorncroftia media has no apparent threats, but may possibly be threatened by forestry.
Population

This species is known from a single collection, dating from 1976. It was collected in a remote and inaccessible area (Codd 1986), and it is possible that more undiscovered subpopulations exist. Field surveys are needed to better document the extent of this species' range.
