Open grassy places in thicket.
Threats
The distribution range of this species is not known, and therefore threats are difficult to infer. It is possibly threatened by habitat loss to urban and industrial expansion, overgrazing and competition from alien invasive plants.
Population

The distribution range and abundance of this species is unknown. The description of this species (Rust et al. 2002) indicates that it occurs somewhere near Port Elizabeth, but no specific locality information is provided. There are no duplicates of the type specimen in South African herbaria, and to date no collections have yet been matched to this species. Population trends are not known.
