Drosanthemum floribundum is a widespread and common species. It is declining across most of its range, but is not yet in danger of extinction. It has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 110 597 km², and is listed as Least Concern.

It occurs on coastal flats close to the sea.
Threats
Drosanthemum floribundum is threatened by ongoing habitat loss to urban expansion and coastal development across most of its range. Many subpopulations are also threatened by competition from alien invasive plants.
