Threats |
A small proportion of this species' habitat has been converted to crop fields, and cultivation is expanding sporadically. It is however not known whether ploughing is causing a decline or favouring this species - some species of Oxalis are known to multiply in response to disturbance, and/or are able to quickly recolonize disturbed sites. Oxalis aridicola has been observed growing in large numbers even in badly eroded sites. |
Population |
A localized, but locally extremely abundant species with hundreds of thousands of plants dominating the veld in winter. The number of flowering plants vary according to annual rainfall.
