Threats |
This species is threatened by overgrazing and resultant habitat degradation on the coastal lowlands between Port Nolloth and the Anenous Pass (P.C.V. van Wyk pers. obs.). Inland of Kleinsee it is threatened by ongoing habitat loss to mining. Subpopulations further south are protected in the Namaqua National Park and not threatened. |
Population |
Subpopulations are often small (L.L. Dreyer and K.C. Oberlander pers. obs.), and localized (N.A. Helme pers. obs.). It has been recorded only a few times, from a few, widely scattered areas. It is possible that more undiscovered subpopulations may exist.
