Justification | This species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 11 324 km², fewer than 20 isolated, severely fragmented subpopulations continue to decline due to habitat degradation as a result of trampling and grazing by livestock. It therefore qualifies as Vulnerable under criterion B. |

Description | Plants grow in seasonal pools and clay pans. |
Threats |
There is an ongoing decline of habitat. Heavy grazing and trampling of plants floating in shallow pools observed by N. Helme at the Vanrhynsdorp subpopulation and by D. Raimondo at some Nieuwoudtville subpopulations. Agriculture is a low moderate threat, some farmers do plough up these seasonal pools. This occurred in Nieuwoudtville in 2005, but it is not general practice as crops do not grow well in seasonally inundated areas. |
