Justification
An extremely localized species, known from the type locality, and although there are at least 2 000 plants, it only occurs within an area of <1 km². Potentially threatened by encroachment from invasive alien pines on the middle and lower slopes of Pilaarkop.

Description
South-facing, damp, peaty hollows and steep upper slopes.
Threats
Potentially threatened by unmanaged invasive alien pines spreading from the lower slopes into this species' habitat.
Population

This species is known from only one subpopulation, where it forms dense stands in loamy open slopes away from rocks (Oliver and Oliver 2000).
