Justification
EOO 298 km², between three and five remaining locations are threatened by ongoing habitat loss to crop cultivation, alien invasive plants and overgrazing.

Description
Seasonally moist lower slopes and flats, in deep sand or gravelly sand at interface between sandstone and ferricrete.
Threats
Threatened by ongoing habitat loss and fragmentation due to expanding crop cultivation, competition from unmanaged alien invasive plants and severe overgrazing due to overstocking of small fragments.
Population

Subpopulations tend to be small, consisting of between 100 and 200 plants, however, a subpopulation of about 10 000 mature individuals has been recently recorded to the west of Napier.
