Justification
This extremely localized reseeder is declining due to too frequent fire. All plants of this subspecies occur within an EOO of less than 1 km² and can all be killed by a single fire.
Distribution
Endemism
South African endemic
Provincial distribution
Western Cape
Range
Table Mountain, Devil's Peak.
Habitat and Ecology
Major system
Terrestrial
Major habitats
Peninsula Sandstone Fynbos
Description
Rocky upper and summit slopes.
Threats
Frequent fires on the northern slopes of Table Mountain threaten this single-stemmed reseeder. In the past, this species was also affected by heavy trampling as it occurs on one of the most oft-frequented slopes on the entire Table Mountain massif and erosion on the slope due to trampling was severe. SANPARKS have since 2009 built pathways to reduce erosion and trampling.
Population

This subspecies is known from a single, very localized subpopulation.
