EOO 128 km², between three and five remaining locations continue to decline due to competition from unmanaged alien invasive plants.

Description
Rocky outcrops and ridges on mountain slopes.
Threats
About 30% of this species' limited habitat has been transformed to timber plantations in the past. Plantations are however no longer expanding, and 95% of this species' remaining habitat is protected in mountain catchments and provincial nature reserves. At least one subpopulation is however threatened by unmanaged escaped pine seedlings invading into its habitat.
Population

A very rare species, seldom encountered, and easily confused with Erica ceraria. It is known from three to four subpopulations.
