Description
High altitude, rocky, north-facing slopes.
Threats
Invasive alien pines are present in high densities on the lower slopes of the Riviersonderend Mountains, and are spreading upwards. Although not yet present within the habitat of Erica alfredii, if left unmanaged, it is likely to encroach onto this species' habitat in future.
Population

Erica alfredii is known from a single, localized subpopulation consisting of between 500 and 1000 mature individuals. It is confined to a specialized, high altitude rocky summit habitat, but has not yet been recorded from similar habitat on other well-explored nearby peaks in the Riviersonderend Mountains. The population is not suspected to be declining.
