Both known subpopulation are potentially threatened by too frequent fires. One subpopulation on Sleeping Beauty Peak has burnt twice within the past seven years. Invasive alien pines are also a potential threat. |

Monitoring of the subpopulation on Sleeping Beauty Peak indicates that it is declining due to too frequent fire.
