Notes |
Described in 1802 (Salisbury 1802), based on a specimen collected by Francis Masson (Masson s.n.), from the 'Hottentots Holland', the mountains and lowlands to the east of False Bay in the Western Cape. In transferring all species of Blaeria to Erica, Oliver (1993) remarked that Masson's type cannot be located, and furthermore, Salisbury's description is so vague that it could apply to a number of Erica species, and the necessary transfer to Erica was not made. This name remains unresolved. |
