Justification
Erica opulenta is a widespread and common species, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 8 563 km². It is threatened in places by competition from alien invasive plants, but not yet in danger of extinction. It is therefore listed as Least Concern.

This species is endemic to South Africa, and is found in the coastal mountains between George and Humansdorp.

Description
It occurs on lower mountain slopes and coastal flats.
Threats
A very small proportion (7%) of this species' habitat has been lost to timber plantations and urban expansion. Some subpopulations near plantations are threatened by competition from escaped pine seedlings. In remote montane areas it is not threatened.
Population

Erica opulenta is common in suitable habitat, and often dominant.
