Justification
A range-restricted species, with an extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) of 12 km². It occurs as scattered individuals growing in fire-protected rocky screes. There are no known threats affecting this species at present. For this reason, it qualifies for listing as Least Concern under the IUCN 3.1 Red List criteria but is nationally recognised as Rare.

This species is restricted to the Riviersonderend Mountains, on Pilaarkop in the Western Cape Province of South Africa.

Description
It grows on rocky screes, steep open slopes and rocky ledges in fynbos.
Threats
No immediate or potential threats have been identified for this species. However, there is a potential for future threats of invasion by Pinus pinaster and Acacia melanoxylon which currently occur at high densities on the lower slopes of the Riviersonderend mountains.
Population

Although very localised, the population, when last monitored in 2008 was large, consisting of several thousand plants. There is no information regarding the current state of the population; however, it is inferred to be stable.
