Justification
Hereroa herrei is a very poorly known taxon. It was originally collected in the Graaff-Reinet district in the Eastern Cape, but there are no confirmed recent collections or observations of this species. In addition, there has been no taxonomic revision of the genus, and specimens are therefore difficult to identify with certainty. Due to taxonomic uncertainty this species may be overlooked, or otherwise misidentified as other species. At present, its risk of extinction cannot be assessed. It is listed as Data Deficient.
