Hereroa crassa is a widespread and common species with no severe threats, and is therefore not in danger of extinction. It is listed as Least Concern.

This species is endemic to South Africa, and occurs from the Tanqua Karoo to Beaufort West and Prince Albert.

Description
It occurs on slopes with quartzite rock in karroid shrubland.
Threats
Hereroa crassa has no severe threats. It appears to not be negatively impacted by livestock grazing, which is causing ongoing degradation across parts of the Karoo.
Population

A large number of collections indicate that this species is common. The population is not suspected to be declining.
