Tubers are harvested and sold for traditional medicine in the markets in small to moderate quantities (V.L. Williams, pers. comm., 2008). The subspecies are not distinguishable in the markets and the traders don't distinguish between them either (N.R. Crouch, pers. comm., 2008).
