Justification | This species has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of less than 2500 km² and is declining due to habitat degradation and harvesting. However, there are still more than 10 locations and subpopulations are not severely fragmented. It is therefore assessed as Near Threatened. |

Threats |
Harvesting for firewood is a major threat as it is a very hard wood, which makes nice coal; RHA saw the destruction of an entire subpopulation in Sekhukhuneland. There are mining developments and it can potentially be destroyed by strip mining. |
