Justification
Gomphostigma incomptum is a widespread, but poorly known species. It has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 22 066 km². It is not suspected to be in danger of extinction, and is therefore listed as Least Concern.

Range
This species is endemic to South Africa, and occurs from the Roggeveld Escarpment eastwards through the upper Karoo to Colesberg.

This is a widespread, but rarely recorded species, known from only a few, scattered collections. Its habitat remains botanically poorly explored, and it is likely to be overlooked.
