A rare, range-restricted species known from four locations which is potentially threatened by competition from alien invasive plants and overgrazing. It therefore qualifies as Vulnerable under criterion D.

Description
Plants grow on montane sourveld with Protea roupelliae.
Threats
This species has lost habitat to timber plantations in the Wolkberg and around Woodbush in the past, but plantations are no longer expanding. Escaped pine seedlings are however spreading uncontrolled through parts of this species' habitat, outcompeting native species. In the Strydpoort Mountains, it is threatened by habitat degradation due to overgrazing.
