| Threatened by habitat loss to expanding rooibos tea cultivation on the Bokkeveld Plateau, but this area represents only a small part of this widespread species' range, and is not suspected to cause significant population decline or the extinction of this species. |

Gethyllis campanulata was formerly thought to be very rare, but many new subpopulations have been recently discovered, indicating that it was merely overlooked in the past.
