Justification
A coastal species with highly localized subpopulations that have fewer than 40 individuals per subpopulation. Known from 14 subpopulations but all are threatened by alien plant invasion and more than half are also threatened by coastal development.

Description
Coastal fynbos at the base of, or on the lower parts of sandstone or shale ridges.
Threats
Coastal development is a past, ongoing and future threat at Betty's Bay, Pringle Bay, Rooiels, Onrus and Hermanus. Between 10 and 20% of habitat has been transformed due to urban expansion. Alien plants are a threat throughout its range; a further 10% of the habitat is threatened by alien plants, especially for subpopulations that occur on the Agulhas Plain and on the Potberg.
