Justification
A widespread (EOO 10 138 km²), but cryptic and easily overlooked annual herb that is likely to be more common than the few collections indicate. Although much of its habitat is transformed, its tolerance of disturbance means that it is unlikely to be in danger of extinction.
Distribution

Provincial distribution
Western Cape

Description
Shale soils in renosterveld.
Threats
At least 55% of renosterveld within the known range of this species is already transformed, predominantly for the cultivation of wheat and vineyards, and habitat loss is ongoing. Dasispermum tenue is therefore likely to be declining in some areas, however, it is able to recover from disturbance.
Population

A small, easily overlooked annual herb that is likely to be more common than the few collections indicate. It is tolerant of disturbance and colonizes old lands
