Justification
Aloe buhrii has an extremely limited distribution range (EOO 8 km²), and is known from only three locations, where it is potentially threatened by succulent collecting.

Endemism
South African endemic
Provincial distribution
Northern Cape
Range
Bokkeveld Escarpment near Nieuwoudtville.
Habitat and Ecology

Major habitats
Knersvlakte Shale Vygieveld
Description
Rocky shale slopes with karroid vegetation.
Threats
Aloe buhrii is not very common in succulent collections as it is difficult to cultivate outside of its natural range (Van Wyk and Smith 2003). Due to its limited distribution range and small population, it is vulnerable to illegal succulent collecting, which could rapidly lead to an increase in its risk of extinction.
Population

Aloe buhrii has a limited distribution range and small global population (Van Wyk and Smith 2003). The number of mature individuals is however not known. Conservation officials from the provincial conservation authority recorded 250-500 plants at a single locality in the late 1970s. It is however not known how extensively the species' habitat was surveyed, and there are no recent updates on the status of the population. Field surveys are needed to determine the population size and trend.
