Justification
Recorded from fewer than five locations in South Africa (EOO 2427 km²), this species is declining due to ongoing habitat loss and degradation. This taxon qualifies as Endangered in South Africa, however as over 50% of the global population occurs in Namibia, where it is not threatened, the regional status is downgraded by one category following IUCN regional assessment procedures.

Description
On slopes in micaceous schist and on flats in quartz gravel.
Threats
Directly threatened by habitat loss to open-cast mining and the associated degradation of its habitat as a result of wind blasting from mining sand deposits. This taxon is also declining as a result of severe overgrazing and trampling in the area between Alexander Bay and Kortdoring.
