Justification | Recorded from fewer than five locations in South Africa (EOO 2427 km²), this species is declining due to ongoing habitat loss and degradation. This taxon qualifies as Endangered in South Africa, however as over 50% of the global population occurs in Namibia, where it is not threatened, the regional status is downgraded by one category following IUCN regional assessment procedures. |

Threats |
Directly threatened by habitat loss to open-cast mining and the associated degradation of its habitat as a result of wind blasting from mining sand deposits. This taxon is also declining as a result of severe overgrazing and trampling in the area between Alexander Bay and Kortdoring. |
