Range
Widespread across eastern South Africa including Swaziland. Occurs from the Soutpansberg southwards through Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal to southern Pondoland.

Description
Seasonally waterlogged and other moist areas in grasslands. Often on stream banks and around pond edges.
Notes
This species forms part of a species complex including P. cooperi, P. macranthus and P. betschuanus. The epithet oakfortensis is often misapplied to specimens of P. cooperi. The possibility of P. oakfortensis having had a hybrid origin must not be ignored (Gordon-Gray 1995).
