Justification
This Agulhas plain endemic is known from four locations and is potentially threatened by competition from alien invasive plants, which are already present in low densities in some parts of the range. It is therefore listed as Vulnerable under criterion D.
Distribution
Endemism
South African endemic
Provincial distribution
Western Cape
Range
This species has a limited distribution in the southern Agulhas Plain region of South Africa.
Habitat and Ecology
Major system
Terrestrial
Major habitats
De Hoop Limestone Fynbos, Agulhas Limestone Fynbos
Description
It grows in limestone-derived soils, at altitudes below 150 m.a.s.l.
Threats
Limestone fynbos is threatened by alien invasive plant encroachment and it is one of the threatened vegetation types in the Agulhas region. Alien invasive plants have been observed in low densities at some of the locality areas. If these are not controlled, they are likely to increase in density and eventually outcompete native species.
Population

As a recently described species (Elliot et al. 2019), the population has not yet been observed to have declined and is currently stable. Half of the population is protected either in the De Hoop Nature Reserve or in Agulhas National Park.
